School County Cross Country Championships


The County Championships was held in St Augustine’s College in Abbeyside on the 30th of November. There was an excellent effort by all the Minor boys team, with all runners finishing the 2000m race. The first three home were Shaun O’Mahony (14th), Jamie Webster and Kieran Tompkins. Others on the team were  Raph Britton, Michael Lawlor,

  David Lynch, Brandon Mc Carthy, Lewie Monkhouse, Aaron Power. In the Junior Girls  section Kelly Tutty worked hard in the 2,000m race

 In the Junior Boys Section Christian made a very strong run  and he was unlucky not to finish further up the field. Peter Keenan made an  excellent second lap which  saw him go from the back of the field up to the middle of the group. Christian O’Mahony  came in 15th place followed by  Peter Keenan, Luke McCarthy and Paul Lannen In the Intermediate Boys Section Bryan O’Mahony came 10th overall and  had an incredible  race and  performance  considering he was sick before the race and had to stop on a number of occasions during the 4500m race.

Boys Cadette B played in Shield Competition versus Blessington and Mountrath.

Students from Dungarvan College who meet the eligibility requirements, may apply for preferential entry to WIT.
