Leaving Certificate
LCVP (Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme)
In Dungarvan College, students’ study eight subjects for examination including Irish, English, Mathematics and Links Modules. Subjects are studied at either Ordinary or Higher Level. Two subjects, Irish and Mathematics, can be studied at Foundation Level.
Students may choose an additional four optional examination subjects from the following list:

Assessment
Subjects are assessed by an examination paper and by additional assessment methods including oral and aural examinations, practical examinations and assessment of practical coursework at the end of the two-year programme of study. Performance in the examination can be used for purposes of selection into employment, and into further and higher education.
LCVP
Links Modules
In most ways the LCVP is like the established Leaving Certificate. LCVP students take a subject called Link Modules, which covers Preparation for the World of Work and Enterprise Education.
Preparation for Work: This module aims to develop a general understanding of the world of work, to introduce research skills and to provide students with the knowledge and skills to find employment. Its covers:
- Job application skills – CV preparation, cover letters, application forms, interview preparation.
- Career Investigation – Skills audit, research skills
- Introduction to Working Life
- Preparation for Work Experience
Enterprise: This module aims to develop creativity, self-confidence, and initiative. This module aims to develop creativity, resourcefulness, self-confidence and initiative. It covers:
- Enterprise Skills
- Local business enterprises
- Local Voluntary Organisations/Community Enterprises
- An Enterprise Activity
Work Experience
- Takes place in 5th year.
- 1 week
- Mandatory part of the course
Assessment of Link Modules
- Portfolio of course work – 60%
- Final exam in May of 6th year – 40%
